Yes. You can submit a torrent for your model directly through Pirate Face, including a surviving copy whose Hugging Face page is gone. Seed the complete files, then provide the magnet, original repository and pinned revision, file hashes, and license evidence.
Today, the form still asks for an original Hugging Face repository and revision. Publishing a model that was never on Hugging Face is planned.
Eligible MIT, Apache-2.0, WTFPL, OpenMDW-1.1, Gemma, LFM, Muse, Qwen Community, Qwen3.8-Max, Mistral Ecosystem, Kimi K3.1-Pro, Llama 3.3, and Qwen Research submissions with matching Hugging Face hashes can list immediately; removed sources or uncertain evidence go to review. Gemma, LFM, Muse, Qwen Community, Qwen3.8-Max, Mistral Ecosystem, Kimi K3.1-Pro, Llama 3.3, and Qwen Research magnets appear only after the downloader accepts their terms. A few repositories have model-specific exceptions.
A webseed is a download URL a torrent client can use alongside peers. For models already on Hugging Face, Pirate Face uses Hugging Face webseeds to help users immediately download the files and start seeding them to others.
If the goal is to build the world’s largest peer-to-peer network for open models and preserve copies across independent peers, Hugging Face webseeds are the fastest, lowest-friction starting point for those models.
Pirate Face does not host model files in any way, as doing so would concentrate control over access and create yet another dependency in the system.
Run pip install pirateface and your existing transformers or huggingface_hub code downloads models from Pirate Face seeders, with no code changes. Every file is checked against Hugging Face's own fingerprint, and anything the swarm can't supply comes from Hugging Face as usual. Read the guide.
Genesis: Genesis combines First claim and First share points. An account’s first qualifying handle earns First claim points, including when verified through Hugging Face. The amount depends on when the handle is claimed.
A qualifying X post earns 25 First share points, once per account, after Pirate Face verifies it. Sharing is optional. Connecting X alone does not earn the bonus.
Other contributions: Referrals earn 50 points for a new account’s first handle, up to 10 referrals. An approved community torrent submission earns points per distinct model when credited to a verified handle: 1 point plus 25 per 250 GB of model size, rounded (250 GB earns 26, 25 GB earns 4). After the first 10 models from one Hugging Face account or organization, each further model from it earns a fifth of that, at least 1 (models from your own Hugging Face account always earn the full amount).
The first person to request a model that then gets rescued earns 5 points if their account has a verified handle. Request it with Rescue on the model page, or tag @thepirateface on X from a linked X account.
